Ancestors

A Poem for the Grandmothers

Under the starlight of Yule’s longest night,
We call to you, Grandmothers, with hearts alight.
In the deep silence of the Winter’s Solstice,
Your wisdom we seek, your love is our solace.

Ancestors old, your blood in our veins,
Your strength in our spirit, your memory remains.
On this M?draniht, we stand at the gate,
Of the old year’s end, and the new year’s slate.

By the Yule log’s fire, and the candle’s glow,
We honor you, Grandmothers, in the falling snow.
We remember your trials, your love, your laughter,
Your courage and care, we seek to recapture.

We raise our voices in the winter’s hush,
To honor your wisdom, in the season’s flush.
With love and respect, we call your names,
On this Yule night, we rekindle your flames.

Grandmothers of old, in you we trust,
Your guidance we seek, as celebrate we must.
Through the longest night, and the shortest day,
In our hearts, Grandmothers, you forever stay.

On this M?draniht, your spirits we feel,
In the quiet of Winter, your love is our seal.
May we walk in your steps, and learn from your ways,
Grandmothers, we honor you, on this Yule’s days.
